Emberstar thought he was going crazy 'I have been leader for one moon and this happens!' A badger was near the Abandoned Twoleg Nest and Emberstar was leading a patrol to flush it out. Emberstar said as he stood on the Highledge with his fur being drenched in rain "Cats of Thunderclan, we must rid ourselves of this badger! The patrol will consist of myself, Panthertail, Lostlog and Spruceclaw. The rain will mask our scent from the badger and may Starclan guide us!" Emberstar led the patrol out of camp and to the Abandoned Twoleg Nest, but one problem. It had stopped raining. The badger was immediately upon them and he was saddened to see Panthertail trambled. Then Lostlog was crushed by as the badger turned around and charged. Now, only Emberstar and Spruceclaw were left. With a tail signal, Spruceclaw flanked left and Emberstar moved right. Alas, Spruceclaw was sliced through the stomach and was slowly bleeding to death. Horrified, Emberstar his and scratched the badger's flanks. This irritated the badger and it charged Emberstar who barely leaped out of the way. With a silent prayer to Starclan, he leap at the badger blinding it in one eye and deepening the scratches he left earlier. Enraged, the badger limp away. Emberstar approached Spruceclaw only to find his corpse even more mangled than before. He entered the camp and cried sadly "The badger, Spruceclaw, Lostlog, and Panthertail are gone!" Members of the clan glared at him hostily and he mewed "I did my best but I or any one else could have saved them." Emberstar went to the medicine cat's den and he limped to his den. He needed to talk to someone.

Moondapple was standing in right outside the Medicine den when she heard what Emberstar said. She quickly rushed to his side and helped him into the den. Moondapple stepped back and narrowed her blue eyes slightly. "Put your paw as high in the air as you can." She meowed. But she knew he needed to talk, "And while your at it, tell me what's on your mind." She said somewhat warmer and friendlier. Moondapple sighed as she took five steps back and took in the image of Emberstar. "You should've waited." She said softly. "At least for a few more sunrises, when are Clan was ready and more prepared to take on a full grown Badger." She shook her grayish silver head and sighed again, this time more heavily. "I hope you know I don't blame you for this." She whispered to him. "It wasn't your fault they died." She continued. "StarClan will take care of them now, and forever."

Emberstar mewed with tears flowing out of his eyes "Thanks Moondapple and I should have known better but I thought we were strong enough. I just got my lives what about three sunrises ago so you are correct I need better judgement." He lifted his paw and he noticed why he was limping and said "Its just a thorn no need to worry."

Moondapple shook her head, "You don't need better judgment." She said. "StarClan wanted that to happen." She meowed. "If they didn't they would've stopped it." She took the thorn in his paw and pulled it out. She saw blood start to gush from the wound, she gave it a lick and the bleeding stopped flowing so quickly. "Now you stay there, keep licking it! I'm going to go get some Marigold leaves." She raced away to her herb store.

Emberstar licked the wound and said "Starclan works in mysterious ways." Then he thoughtfuly asked " Have you contacted Starclan lately?" He was hoping that Starclan approved of his leadership or if the cats he got killed today would forgive him. He was quite worried that Starclan would send him to the Dark Forest where the worst cats in clan history to rot forever.

Moondapple said thoughtfully, "I did see a sort of sign in the clouds and the way the wind blew the trees." She looked at Emberstorm and pressed the marigold leaves on his paw were the thorn used to be. "Does that sting?" She asked.

Emberstar blinked his green eyes and said "No it doesn't sting if feel no pain." 'Just like the life you got from Crazytail. To feel no pain only dedication.' Thought Emberstar and he swished his tail back and forth and asked "When is the gathering?" He scanned the den again hoping it would somehow talk to him.

Moondapple shook her grayish head, "Emberstar, I think the gathering will be soon." She looked around, and sniffed the air. "Emberstar?" She hissed quietly, "There's something bad coming, the gathering probably won't go well...." She stiffened, her eyes suddenly got a glazed look over, her eyes were also wide. Then...... They became normal again, she gasped, then turned her head to look Emberstar in the eye. "You're forgiven." Was all she said. She slid away, coming closer to the small little pool of water at the back of the den.

Emberstar was completely confused. Dazed, he asked "Will there be time to visit the Moonpool? If so, I need to tell Hawkstar something." He padded over to where Moondapple was sitting and said "What is the purpose of this pool?'' He was quite curious about the life of a medicine cat. He asked "Whom should I make deputy? I was thinking of picking Dustfur unless you have another suggesting."

Moondapple whipped her head around so she was face to face with Emberstar. "Not her." She whispered quietly, but powerful(ly?)
(Besides. You can't. Because she didn't pick that rank. Unless you ask Pyrite.)
Moondapple shook her head slightly and walked back to the edge of the pool. "It's so we can wet moss quickly, and sometimes the patient needs the water. Once in awhile we might get a message form StarClan." She looked at Emberstar, "We can go if you want. Do you want me to come or do you want to go alone?" She asked.

(I know but I was told to pick a temporary deputy)
"I wish you to travel there with me because I feel it would be better if we both went." mewed Emberstar simply. He looked on thoughtfuly and asked "If not Dustfur, then who?" He was still trying to get used to being leader. Emberstar just wanted to see if his medicine cat or Starclan when, they traveled to the Moonpool, had any answers to conquer his curious ambition.

Moondapple smiled, "Moonfire." She said, "I have been watching her, she's the right one." Moondapple was still smiling as she replied, "Yes, I think there's enough time, and yes, I'll go with you." Moondapple got herbs ready, then remembered that leader's couldn't take them on their way to the Moonpool. She looked at Emberstar, "Ready to go?"

Emberstar blinked his green eyes and he mewed in a curious and excited voice "Yes I am always and thankyou for the advice. Once we return I will preform the ceremony." He flexed his claws and stretched and got up ready to leave. (Should we end this thread and make one in the Moonpool?)

(Never mind... It's password protected.
I will make one in Clan Territory and we'll pretend we're at the Moonpool I guess. Besides most of the journey is in the CLans.)
