Burntpelt was not snooping. He was searching. He had wounded a squirrel and it ran right over the RiverClan border. He knew it was dangerous and against the warrior code, but the sun was down and no one was out. He tasted the air and followed the faint blood trail. Her ears were pricked and eyes alert as he continued on the trail of his kill. Then he saw it. His squirrel. It was a big one, enough to feed him and another warrior. But then he saw her.

The pretty white she-cat crouched in the bushes. She had been watching the warrior, from ThunderClan. For some odd reason, she enjoyed seeing him hunt. He was quite good. Suddenly, he crossed the border, trying to catch the squirrel. Her fur prickled nervously, knowing what to do...But unable to do it. Instead, she stood, tall. As tall as she could. "What exactly do you think you are doing?"

"Chasing my squirrel. I wounded it and accidently chased it across the border." Burntpelt somewhat lied. He was intriuged by this attractive she-cat. She must have seen him, but didn't say anything about him. He knew this she-cat would be imprinted into his mind. "I'm Burntpelt." He said lamely.

"I am Duskflight." she meowed quietly, stepping lightly towards the tom. Her dusky brown eyes examined him carefully, taking in his features. Burntpelt was obviously very handsome. His pelt was tabby, black stripes swirling about him. He also had other shades of striped patterns, browns, lighter browns. Her own pure white pelt stuck out in the reeads, while his blended perfectly. "You should go. One of my clan will see you." Duskflight murmered, listening for any sounds in the reeds.

Burntpelt was about to agree when a curious thought struck his mind. "So you aren't going to turn me in?" He looked at her with a slight sliver of emotion, though he couldn't quite put his claw on it. "Why not?" Burntpelt mused, feeling his heart skip a beat for whatever reason.

Duskflight looked to he paws, "Not unless you want me too." she meowed, brushing her thick fur agaist his. "Your situation is understandable, as you only want to hunt for your clan." She knew even talking to him here was against the code. Even when she had told him to leave, she had a strange feeling that wanted to tell him to stay with her. Unlike her fellow clanmates, she believed that RiverClan's plentiful prey should be shared with the other clans, as they weren't so fortunate. She had been alled a traiter for even thinking this, but her beliefs were final to her.

"Indeed. I would most prefer if you'd not tattle on me." Burntpelt said with a smile "I will leave if I must, though I am enjoying this time with you Miss Duskflight. Perhaps I shall see you again soon. But there really is no telling, I am a busy tom." He gave her a wink. He felt something special about his meeting with her. Like it was fate, quite possibly.

Wait, I don't want you to go! Screamed her mind. Finally, she found the words, "Wait! Maybe my clanmates wouldn't notice if you stayed....just a while longer..." Mewed Duskfight, gazing at him with her beautiful dusky brown eyes, somehow wanting to be with him. It was so odd, but she felt that he was thinking the same thing.

Burntpelt was slightly surprised by her answer. He would have thought that Duskflight would have chased him off. The moon was not quite full. Somewhat defiantly, his mind noted how beautiful she looked. He tried to deny it, but it was true. "It's a beautiful night isn't it." He said, reminding himself that she was a RiverClan cat, a possible future together would be slim.

"It is lovely. It's these nights....I seem to enjoy the most...Yet really I don't know why.." Duskflight almost stopped herself, as this was like something she would tell Quickfeather. She felt like this tom was somewhat like her Quickfeather, who had joined StarClan, taken by the river. Since then, Duskflight had been afraid of the water, only going hunting alone, scared that she wouldn't be able to save a cat if something were to happen in the river. "Burntpelt, do you believe in fate?" she asked, gazing at him. Her question, she knew, was sudden.

Burntpelt met her eyes and thought that he knew what she meant. "Yes, I do." He said, his heart thumping loudly. He didn't feel the need to explain why though he did anyway. "I believe that everything has a purpose." He dropped his gaze, partially embarrassed by what he would say next. "Even our meeting here has a purpose, I feel sure of it."

The beautiful snow-white she-cat's eyes tendered. She found herself nodding, agreeing with him. "You may be right." But what purpose? I can't mean anything more than this small meeting. No matter how much I don't want this to end. "But why would you think that? Just out of curiosity.." [Omigosh I'm lazy...]

Burntpelt shrugged. "Just a hunch really." He didn't say more. He cleared his throat. "Our clans will get worried if we are gone for much longer." He felt reluctant to say it, but he felt it was necessary. His next words weren't planned but he realized he had been thinking about saying them the whole time he had been talking with her. "Will you meet me again by the border? Tomorrow night?"

"Tomorrow night." she agreed, eyes glimmering. She didn't want to leave him, feeling as though there was a line, connecting them somehow. The pretty white she-cat smiled and turned away, trying to hide the fire in her eyes. "I will be waiting for you, Burntpelt. Don't disappoint me."

"I won't, I promise." He said with a smile. Burntpelt picked up his squirrel and dashed through the reeds. He slowed down at the border before disappearing in the ThunderClan woods. He felt happy from his meeting with Duskflight and couldn't wait til tomorrow night.
